Catching up with Cocktail Arts
It's tomorrow. What you ask, The Wonderous Wedding Fair. Months of preparation, a photoshoot, a pre-event party, carefully chosen suppliers, creative workshops, a fun fashion show, cool tea room....need we say more. The work that myself and Helen from Doily Days have put in goes beyond a normal job. We do it because we want to create something unique, offering couples something different. We love not to be conventional.
So this will be our last blog post about our exhibitors, but no means least. Today we catch up with Levi, the creator of Cocktail Arts. A man, truly passionate about an authentic cocktail. We have a master mixologist in the house tomorrow.
Let's find out how he nearly got his wife to be lost before he proposed to her!!!!
How did you come up with your business idea?
The original idea of Cocktail Arts goes all the way back to 2013 when I was the Bar Manager of a prestigious boutique hotel in Southbourne. The hotel’s owner and a friend of mine, Andrew Gosling has already run a very successful catering business in London called Food Show. Andrew’s concept with Food Show was very inspirational for me, as he runs this business by combining traditional catering with fine dining, working together with Michelin starred chef’s to provide his client’s an unrivaled dining experience on events and functions. This gave me the idea to set up a mobile bar business where the emphasis is on quality over quantity and to bring the art of mixology to private events in a style and quality that isn’t offered by any of our local competitors.
How would you describe your style?
In three simple words: Unique, creative and sophisticated.
Who, in the public eye, suits your brand the most and why?
As no one comes to me right away, it might be better to just skip this question.
What's the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of love?
In order to engage my wife, I took her to Mallorca. I’ve found a hidden and romantic spot to ask the big question but didn’t realise that this place is not reachable by any kind of transport, so we’ve had to hike for nearly 10 miles under the hot July sun to find this place, and at the end, we got lost.. Luckily, when I’ve asked THE questions she said yes ?
What tune do you put on to get you ready for the day?
Being a newbie daddy, it’s usually one of the famous Disney songs.. and no, it’s not me who puts it on 7 am in the morning.
What’s the best thing about working for yourself?
The possibility to be in charge for my own time.
What do you love most about weddings?
The cocktails. OK, seriously: the moment when the Bride and/or the Groom walks to the bar at the end of the party, being exhausted but extremely happy, and ask for ‘one last drink for the road’, and I know they have had a big day just as they wanted.
What three items would you take with you on a desert island?
A good book, a pillow, and a hammock.
If you could take anyone, who would you invite as your plus one to a wedding?
Ildi, my wife.
What one piece of advice would you give to couples planning their wedding?
The very same advice that we’ve received before our big day, and it proved itself to be a very wise one: “Remember, this is YOUR big day and not your guests’. Of course you want to make it perfect (there is no such thing as perfection by the way), you want everyone to enjoy themselves as much as possible, but it’s ultimately all about you, so make sure YOU two enjoy it as much as you can, and don’t panic too much on things like: ‘what will my grandma think if she is seated at the same table with uncle John...?’ or ‘Jesus, the wedding planner just called me to say the florist has run out of white orchids...’
